Selling clothing or shoes? Check the Size field in your listings, not just the size written in the description. Before changing a whole catalog, separate a formatting correction from a decision about the item's actual fit.
Check your marketplace
eBay began standardizing fashion sizes in June 2026. It can convert clear equivalents automatically; unclear values still need seller review. Its US guidance warns that apparel and footwear listings with unclear or missing size or condition details may be hidden from August 2026. That is a warning, not proof that any particular listing has been hidden. Read eBay's US listing guidance.
Dates are not identical everywhere. The UK guidance also names August. Australia's item description policy specifies September 8, 2026 for supported fashion sizes and conditions. Check the notice for the marketplace where you list. Sources reviewed September 8, 2026.
When the exact size is missing
The US item description policy says to match the manufacturer's designation and use the closest supported size if the exact one is unavailable. It also requires accurate details and the appropriate category.
That is not a universal conversion chart. Our recommendation: compare the garment tag, brand size chart, measurements, department, and sizing region before choosing. Do not silently turn a combined size into a single size or assume US and UK shoe numbers mean the same thing. Keep the actual label and measurements clear in the listing. If you cannot identify an accurate supported choice, ask eBay for category-specific guidance before a bulk change. Neither a tool suggestion nor this guide guarantees protection from a buyer dispute.

- Return to Active listings and upload it as an item specifics file.
Keep an untouched export separately. A file reporting missing fields is not a complete audit of every existing size value.
Review a small batch first
Before uploading, compare a few representative listings with their physical items. Include a variation listing if you sell several sizes under one listing ID.
- Check item-level fields and each variation's size, SKU, price, and quantity. Do not flatten distinct variations into one value.
- Review condition separately; correcting Size does not resolve an incorrect condition.
- Record the old value, proposed value, source, and any unresolved question.
- After the update, inspect the live listings and any eBay errors before processing the next batch.
